Welcome to NearRide

NearRide is a community built by and for motorcycle and bike riders. Our mission is to help riders discover nearby rideouts, grow their crew, and build lasting connections through shared experiences on two wheels. These Community Guidelines outline the standards and expectations for all members of our community.

By using NearRide, you agree to follow these guidelines. They work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to create a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone.

1. Be Respectful and Inclusive

Our community is diverse, and we celebrate that diversity. Treat everyone with respect, kindness, and empathy, regardless of their background, experience level, bike type, or riding style.

  • Respect Differences: Everyone has different skill levels, preferences, and experiences. Be patient and supportive, especially with newer riders
  • Inclusive Language: Use inclusive language and avoid discriminatory remarks, slurs, or offensive comments
  • Constructive Communication: When disagreeing, do so respectfully. Focus on the issue, not the person
  • No Harassment: Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or any form of unwelcome behavior is not tolerated
  • Respect Boundaries: Respect others' personal boundaries, both online and during rideouts

2. Safety First

Safety is paramount in our community. We're all responsible for keeping each other safe.

2.1 Accurate Information

  • Provide accurate and complete information when creating rideouts
  • Clearly communicate rideout details, including start time, location, pace, skill level, and route
  • Update rideout information promptly if plans change
  • Be honest about your skill level and experience when RSVPing

2.2 Responsible RSVPing

  • Only RSVP "going" if you genuinely plan to attend
  • Update your RSVP status if your plans change
  • Communicate with organizers if you need to cancel or will be late
  • Repeated no-shows without communication may result in restrictions

2.3 During Rideouts

  • Follow all applicable traffic laws and safety regulations
  • Wear appropriate safety gear, including helmets
  • Ride within your skill level and comfort zone
  • Look out for other riders and help maintain group safety
  • Respect the pace and skill level set for the rideout
  • Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Be aware of weather conditions and adjust plans accordingly

2.4 Emergency Situations

  • Know how to contact emergency services in your area
  • Carry a charged phone and emergency contact information
  • Help others in need, but prioritize your own safety
  • Report safety concerns or incidents to organizers and, if necessary, authorities

3. Content Standards

All content you post on NearRide should be appropriate, accurate, and respectful.

3.1 What to Post

  • Rideout information that is clear, accurate, and helpful
  • Relevant photos and images related to rides and the riding community
  • Constructive messages and updates that add value to conversations
  • Helpful information, tips, and resources for other riders

3.2 What Not to Post

  • Illegal Content: Content that promotes or depicts illegal activities
  • Harmful Content: Content that is violent, threatening, or could cause harm
  • Discriminatory Content: Content that discriminates against or attacks individuals or groups based on protected characteristics
  • Spam: Unauthorized advertising, promotional content, or repetitive messages
  • Misinformation: False or misleading information, especially regarding safety
  • Personal Information: Sharing others' personal information without consent
  • Inappropriate Images: Explicit, graphic, or otherwise inappropriate images
  • Copyrighted Material: Content that infringes on intellectual property rights

4. Organizing Rideouts

If you're organizing a rideout, you have additional responsibilities to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

  • Plan Thoroughly: Plan your route, timing, and logistics in advance
  • Set Clear Expectations: Clearly communicate pace, skill level, duration, and any requirements
  • Be Present: Arrive early and be available to coordinate with participants
  • Manage the Group: Help maintain group cohesion and safety during the ride
  • Communicate Changes: Promptly notify participants of any changes or cancellations
  • Welcome Newcomers: Make new riders feel welcome and included
  • Handle Issues: Address conflicts or concerns that arise during the rideout
  • Follow Up: Consider following up with participants after the rideout

5. Communication and Chat

Our chat features are designed to help riders coordinate and stay connected. Keep conversations relevant, respectful, and helpful.

  • Stay On Topic: Keep conversations relevant to the rideout or community
  • Be Clear and Concise: Communicate clearly and avoid unnecessary noise
  • Respect Privacy: Don't share others' personal information without consent
  • No Spam: Avoid repetitive messages, excessive notifications, or off-topic content
  • Use @mentions Wisely: Only mention users when necessary and relevant
  • Respect Chat Modes: Follow the chat mode set by organizers (open, members-only, etc.)

6. Building Reputation

Your reputation on NearRide reflects your contributions to the community. Build it through positive actions:

  • Reliability: Show up when you RSVP and communicate if plans change
  • Helpfulness: Help other riders, share knowledge, and contribute positively
  • Organization: Create well-planned, safe, and enjoyable rideouts
  • Respect: Treat others with respect and follow community standards
  • Consistency: Regularly participate and contribute to the community

Reputation scores and badges are earned through positive community participation. Don't try to game the system or manipulate your reputation.

7. Reporting and Moderation

We rely on our community to help maintain a safe and positive environment. If you encounter behavior or content that violates these guidelines:

  • Report It: Use the in-app reporting feature to report violations
  • Be Specific: Provide clear details about what you're reporting and why
  • Don't Retaliate: Avoid engaging with problematic behavior; let moderation handle it
  • False Reports: Don't submit false or malicious reports; this may result in action against your account

Our moderation team reviews all reports and takes appropriate action, which may include warnings, content removal, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans.

8. Age and Legal Requirements

NearRide is intended for users who are at least 16 years old. If you're under 18, make sure you have parental or guardian permission to use the Service.

  • You must meet the minimum age requirement (16 years) to use the Service
  • You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction
  • You must have a valid license to operate a motorcycle or bike if required in your area
  • You are responsible for ensuring you can legally participate in rideouts

9. Commercial Activity

NearRide is a community platform, not a marketplace. Commercial activity should be limited and appropriate:

  • Don't use the Service primarily for commercial purposes or advertising
  • Don't spam the community with promotional content
  • Don't sell products or services through the Service without permission
  • Organizing paid events or commercial rideouts may require special arrangements
  • Contact us at support@nearride.app if you have questions about commercial use

10. Disputes and Conflicts

Disagreements and conflicts may arise. Handle them constructively:

  • Communicate Directly: Try to resolve issues through respectful, direct communication
  • Involve Organizers: For rideout-related issues, involve the organizer or other trusted community members
  • Use Blocking: If someone is harassing you, use the blocking feature
  • Report Serious Issues: Report harassment, threats, or illegal behavior through the reporting system
  • Don't Escalate: Avoid public arguments or escalating conflicts unnecessarily

11. Enforcement

Violations of these Community Guidelines may result in:

  • Warnings: First-time or minor violations may result in a warning
  • Content Removal: Violating content will be removed
  • Temporary Suspension: Repeated violations may result in temporary account suspension
  • Permanent Ban: Severe or repeated violations may result in permanent account termination
  • Legal Action: Illegal activity may be reported to law enforcement

We reserve the right to take any action we deem necessary to maintain a safe and positive community. Enforcement decisions are made at our discretion and are final.

At the end of the day, we're all here because we love riding. Let's support each other, share our passion, and build a community that makes riding better for everyone.
